45 Questions To Ask Your Wedding Caterer

45 Questions To Ask Your Wedding Caterer As we make our way through The Ultimate Wedding Checklist, it’s about time to talk all about wedding caterers. Food and drinks will probably be the largest portion of your wedding budget, so choosing the right caterer is important. I was blessed to work in “the industry” years ago as a banquet server at a restaurant in San Diego that was always busy during wedding season. There were some times where we would have upwards of 5 weddings taking place in one weekend at our restaurant. During the years I worked there, I learned a thing or two about catering and wedding planning. I also learned a ton when I planned my rustic DIY wedding. I’ve come up […]

20 Rustic Baby Shower Invitations

This post contains affiliate links, but nothing that I wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend anyway! Read my full disclosure here. 20 Rustic Baby Shower Invitations I had such a blast planning my sister’s rustic woodland baby shower. Everything from the moss banner to the chalkboard clock, I was in DIY heaven. I even decided to DIY the invitations too! Luckily, I had experience with making the invitations from my wedding and I was familiar with graphic design programs because that’s my day job. Making your own invitations for an event like a baby shower or wedding can be tough work, especially if you aren’t familiar with graphic design. If you don’t have the time or energy to DIY there are tons of awesome rustic baby shower invites out […]

DIY Lullaby Baby Shower Gift Wrap

This post contains affiliate links, but nothing that I wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend anyway! Read my full disclosure here.  DIY Lullaby Baby Shower Gift Wrap When I was planning my sister’s rustic woodland baby shower, I knew I wanted to wrap my present in a way that both matched the baby shower theme and was also creative and easy since I was wrapping everything up at the last minute when I was packing things up to take to the shower. Kraft paper is, of course, a favorite of mine. I love wrapping my Christmas presents in it and then getting creative with different bows and lettering on the packages. It is so versatile that you pretty much always need some around. I love how my lullaby […]

DIY Patriotic Door Sign Can you believe how fast summer is already flying by!? I made this awesome DIY Patriotic Door Sign and then the Forth of July (actually ALL of July) came and went and instead of posting the tutorial, I was changing diapers. #MomBloggerProblems I was going to keep this tutorial in the queue for next year’s 4th of July, but this post by Brooke over at All Things Thrifty inspired me to post it now. To those bloggers who have their seasonal posts done months beforehand, I simply don’t know how you do it. But, cheers…here’s to real life. The door sign was done […]

2016 Goals Update

2016 Goals Update Hello August…now PLEASE tell me what you’ve done with the first half of the year and why is time moving so quickly now? I can’t believe that we’re in the 8th month of 2016 already! I was at my sister’s house recently and she had the following quote up on chalkboard in her living room. As four new parents, we all chuckled and agreed that the quote is SO relevant to our lives right now. These days are filled with crying babies, sleepless nights and you are most likely wearing clothes that have spit up or pee (and on the very worst days somehow…poop). The minutes on the clock tick by ever so slowly as your patting your little one on the back […]

Typically engagement pictures take place outside rather than in the studio. […]

Top 12 Breastfeeding Products

This post contains affiliate links, but nothing that I wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend anyway! Read my full disclosure here. Top 12 Breastfeeding Products Whoever said breastfeeding was easy or natural, well, they were totally lying. Breastfeeding was the probably the hardest part of the whole mommy thing in the first few weeks. There are so many issues that many women encounter. Everything from low milk supply or oversupply to baby’s latch or efficiency issues. If you’re lucky, breastfeeding will get started without a hitch. However, I haven’t met one mama yet that didn’t have one or more issues. For us, it was efficiency. Cal had a hard time getting everything he needed from me and working back up to his birth weight. In fact, it took […]

Should we get engagement pictures taken?

Should We Get Engagement Pictures Taken?

Should we get engagement pictures taken? Last week on Wedding Wednesday, I shared the last segment of our little love story – our engagement! So, it only seems fitting to spend some time talking about engagement pictures, which is next up on our Ultimate Wedding Checklist. Shortly after you get engaged (read my engagement advice here), you may be start thinking about getting engagement pictures taken. If you’re anything like me, you are on the fence about whether or not you want to get engagement pictures done. I was hesitant to take engagement pictures for a few different reasons. Logan and I aren’t real big on “PDA”, so I was a little nervous about getting all up close and personal in front of the photographer and that big […]

Our Little Love Story: Part Three

Our Little Love Story: Part Three For Wedding Wednesday today, I’m bringing you the rest of our little love story – which is appropriate because it eventually leads to a wedding. The wait has been unbearable, hasn’t it? I started our little love story a few months ago and never got the chance to share with you the epic grand finale before I took my little blog hiatus, so today is the day! Today is the final installation of Our Little Love Story. If you’ve been following along in our love saga, you know that we were left with me just waiting and waiting for Logan to pop the big question. Since it’s been so long, you may need a refresher so check out how […]

This was just moments after he popped the question...couldn't be happier!

Easy Thrift Store Dresser Transformation

Easy Thrift Store Dresser Transformation

Easy Thrift Store Dresser Transformation This post contains affiliate links, but nothing that I wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend anyway! Read my full disclosure here. I am so excited to jump back in and start giving you some updates about our home renovation projects. Today, I’m going to show you how I quickly transformed a thrift store dresser with just a $4 can of spray paint! You guys all saw how small our master closet is when I talked about the closet systems we installed. The closet systems definitely made our closets much more efficient, but it still wasn’t going to fit all the clothes we needed to store. I was on the hunt for a dresser when I came across this amazing dresser at one of my favorite […]

Cal is one month old!

This post contains affiliate links, but nothing that I wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend anyway! Read my full disclosure here Yesterday Cal turned one month old! This last month has gone by so quickly and also in some ways seemed to go by at a snail’s pace. He brings us so much joy everyday. This month he loves staring at faces, eating, swaddles, his babysusher (amazing sound machine), cuddles, bedtime stories and tummy time. He’s not a huge fan of daytime naps (any tips are appreciated!) , but he’s doing good at night – sleeping 3-4 hour stretches for the first half of the night and 2 hour stretches in the first half of the early morning. He had a slow start to gaining weight because wasn’t […]

Welcome Baby Calloway!

….and I finally break the blog silence!! I had to take a little blog hiatus the last few months as we rushed to finish the major projects of our home renovation (can’t wait to start updating you!)  and prepare to add another human to our family. Thanks for your patience and for sticking around while I took a much needed break. It’s been a great big gulp of fresh air, but I’m back and I’m a MOM! Our perfect little baby Calloway was born on May 9th, 2016 at 6:05pm. He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. So far parenthood has been a roller coaster in every way. I’m sure it has something to do with the hormones, but I’ve cried […]

Our Little Love Story : Part Two

I know, I’ve been keeping you on the edge of your seats waiting for the next part to our little love story. A couple weeks ago, I shared about how Logan and I met in Our Little Love Story: Part One. Go back and read that post to refresh yourself as we hop right into the middle of this love story. We left off with Logan sitting in his car for 30 minutes trying to gain the courage to come upstairs to tell me how he felt…. Now if Logan was telling you this part of the story he would say that he knocked on the door and then sat on the couch and poured out his heart to me and I said, word-for-word, “I like you, […]
